Description
ATTACHING THE FLOAT DRUMS TO THE DOCK FRAME:
- Use at least four (if not all) mounting slots to attach the float drum to the dock frame.
- Use galvanized or stainless steel 3/8″ bolts, screws, washers and/or lock nuts.
- The dock frame must support both sides and ends of the float drum.
- Place float drums evenly spaced on the bottom of the dock section.
- A float drum must be in each corner of the dock section.
Calculating buoyancy for a floating dock.
Length of the dock x Width of the dock = Square feet of the dock.
Square feet of the dock x 35 lbs. per sq. ft. = Total buoyancy needed.
Divide total buoyancy by 433 (this float) = the number of floats needed.
EXAMPLE
4’ wide x 16’ long = 64 sq. ft. x 35 = 2,240 total weight
2,240 total weight divided by 433 = 5.17 floats
Round up to 6 floats needed.
This is only a suggestion. More floats may be needed for extra stability.
Dock frame material, decking material, and total top load weight need to be considered when determining the number of floats needed.
